There are long-lasting impacts that must be accommodated and cannot be “cured” especially for those who have experienced long periods of exposure to trauma that they could not escape. Severe, repeated and inescapable trauma leaves a type of injury in the brain. Mental illness is not completely understood. But what we do understand is that 20% of all Canadians will experience mental illness personally in their lifetime. PTSD Yoga is a system which invites the practitioner to take charge of their own experience with the gentle support of a teacher. This individualized approach puts the power back into their hands, effectively enabling each practitioner to write their own prescription for wellness.
